Download it once.
It's yours.
The EPUB reflows to whatever screen you read on, so it will look better on a Kindle or a phone than the PDF does. No account, no store, no digital rights management. Download the file, put it on your device, and keep it.
Four ways in, none of which need an account
Kindle
- Download the EPUB above.
- Go to
amazon.com/sendtokindleand sign in with the account your Kindle uses. - Drag the EPUB into the browser window. Amazon converts it automatically — modern Kindles accept EPUB directly.
- It arrives on your device the next time it connects to wi-fi, under Library.
You can also email the file to your personal @kindle.com address, or plug the Kindle in by USB and drop the file into the documents folder.
Kobo
- Connect the Kobo to a computer with its USB cable and confirm the connection on the device.
- It appears as a drive. Copy the EPUB into the root folder.
- Eject safely. The Kobo indexes it on disconnect and the book appears in your library.
Apple Books — iPhone, iPad, Mac
- Tap the download link on the device itself.
- Choose Open in Books when the share sheet appears, or open the file from Downloads and pick Books.
- It syncs to your other Apple devices automatically if iCloud is on.
Android, or anything else
- Download the file to the device.
- Open it with any EPUB reader — Google Play Books, Moon+ Reader, Librera and Calibre all handle it.
- On a desktop, Calibre is the most capable if you want to convert it to another format.
The EPUB deliberately sets almost nothing — no typeface, no justification, no colours. Your reader's own font, margins, line spacing and dark mode all win, which is how it should be. If something looks off, it is your reader's settings rather than the file, and you can change them freely.
The book is free and has never been for sale. Share it, send it to a colleague, print it, quote it with attribution. It is published under CC BY-NC-ND 4.0, which means you may copy and distribute it as it is, for non-commercial purposes, with credit. If you paid for a copy, you were overcharged.
A paperback will be listed on Lulu at cost — no royalty, no revenue. The files on this page are always the current edition.
